The Bosnian Catholic news agency quoted Komarica as describing Ratzinger as a man of the Church, a great worker and one of the greatest theologians.
"I am happy with this choice because it means the continuation of the work of the Great Pope John Paul II, whose behaviour and deeds have impressed the world and who put a lot of things in the Church in the right place, refusing unrealistic trendiness," Komarica said.
He said that he personally knew the new pope, and that Benedict XVI was far more familiar with the situation in South-East Europe than somebody from remote countries.
