BELGRADE, April 15 (Hina) - Membership in the European Union requiresmeeting all set political criteria, the most important one being fullcooperation with the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, members ofcommittees on European
integration of Croatian and Serbia andMontenegro's parliaments agreed at a meeting in Belgrade on Friday.The purpose of the meeting was to exchange experience in the processof integration with the EU.
BELGRADE, April 15 (Hina) - Membership in the European Union
requires meeting all set political criteria, the most important one being full
cooperation with the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, members of committees
on European integration of Croatian and Serbia and Montenegro's parliaments
agreed at a meeting in Belgrade on Friday. The purpose of the meeting was to
exchange experience in the process of integration with the EU.
Members of the two committees stressed the importance of inter-parliamentary
cooperation in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration, stating that numerous
regional initiatives and cooperation facilitated that process, the chairman of
the Croatian Sabor's Committee on European Integration, Neven Mimica, said.
The two sides expressed readiness to contribute to integrated border
control, that is, to simplifying border control procedure.
The Croatian delegation also met members of the Serbian parliament's
committee on European integration. The two sides stressed the need for
expanding regional cooperation and giving parliaments a more important role in
that process.
