ZAGREB, April 12 (Hina) - The National Foundation for the
Development of Civil Society last year received funds worth 33.4 million kuna,
and of that amount 13 million kuna still remain to be spent, the Foundation's
director, Cvjetana Plavsa-Matic, said on Tuesday, presenting a report on the
Foundation's activities in 2004. This year the Foundation will
continue inviting applications for financial assistance to NGOs, and the 13
million kuna will be used to decentralise the Foundation, Plavsa-Matic said.
Last year the foundation received 15 million kuna from the state budget
and from games of chance, while the remaining sum was provided by
international organisations, especially the British government's department for
international development, which ensured 1.5 million kuna.
The funds were used for financial assistance to civil society with
regard to the EU's requirement and activities in education and research for
inter-sector cooperation.
