Material damage is estimated at several dozen thousand kuna and police are looking for the perpetrators, police spokeswoman Gordana Vulama said.
The act of vandalism was reported on Sunday morning and it is believed that the tombs were overturned the night before.
Police said that this was an ordinary act of vandalism, as there were no traces that would indicate otherwise. Nothing was written on the tombs, Vulama said.
The tombs are not located in the section of the cemetery intended for national minorities or minority confessions, so the police have ruled out racism as the motive.
