Mirko Bolfek of Hina, Igor Vezovnik of STA and Zehrudin Isakovic of FENA concluded there was a need to make the flow of information fuller and freer so as to improve public information in the three countries.
Providing timely information is intended to create conditions facilitating market development, to provide the public with quality information about integration organisations active in Europe, to reduce, through undisturbed flow of information, all forms of xenophobia, racial, gender and every other discrimination, and to raise awareness as to the culture of dialogue, tolerance and respect for diversity.
The three directors expressed willingness to work out a project of an open network of news agencies which is currently called net 3.
Isakovic said he expected all other interested agencies of significance would join the project, which has already been joined by Serbia and Montenegro's Tanjug and Macedonia's MIA, although their representatives did not attend the Sarajevo meeting.
In the meantime, HINA, STA and FENA will set up a joint database for users. They will also contact international funds for money to draw up a feasibility study for the net 3 project.
Bolfek said that for the time being the project was beyond the three agencies' financial possibilities and required an initial investment from the available funds.
The next such meeting will be held in Zagreb in December.
