The six members, whom the government appointed at a closed session, are university professors and history experts Petar Strcic, Miroslav Bertosa, Kresimir Nemec, Darko Dukovski, Mirko Valentic and Bosiljka Janjatovic.
The Croatian government's representative in the commission will be Assistant Foreign Minister Damir Kusen.
The spokesman for the Slovene government, Jernej Pavlin, said today that Ljubljana too appointed its members to the commission. The Slovene co-chairman is historian Janko Prunk, a university professor and former minister, the Slovene STA news agency reported.
The names of the other six members were not made public.
Last year, Slovenia proposed the establishment of this commission, which would not make any decisions instead of the government, but try to clarify historical facts.
Croatia's PM Ivo Sanader agreed with the proposal at a meeting with his Slovene counterpart Janez Jansa in January this year.
Slovenia established a similar commission with Italy, which existed from 1993 to 2000. Following a proposal by the foreign ministry in Ljubljana, in 2003 Slovene and Austrian historians began tackling bilateral issues.
