BELGRADE, March 27 (Hina) - It is in the interests of Kosovo Serbs
to take part in the work of Kosovo institutions and working groups, and Serbia
and Montenegro insists that its state border with Albania and Macedonia remain
unchanged, Serbia and Montenegro's Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic said at a
meeting with the head of the UN Mission in Kosovo, Soren Jessen Petersen, who
started a two-day visit to Belgrade on Sunday. "More than autonomy,
but less than independence for Kosovo - that is the essence, and we will find
the appropriate name for that essence through dialogue with Albanians and the
international community," reads a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry.
Draskovic also told Petersen that the application of democratic
standards in Kosovo had to include such a level of protection of rights of
Kosovo Serbs and other non-Albanians that would meet European standards, as
well as the construction of destroyed houses, churches and monasteries, refugee
return, and decentralisation of authority.
On Monday Petersen will hold talks with Serbian President Boris Tadic,
PM Vojislav Kostunica and the head of the Coordination Centre for Kosovo,
Nebojsa Covic.
