RIJEKA, March 14 (Hina) - Workers will occupy the Viktor Lenac
shipyard if creditors seize its assets and will not allow their sale, the
leader of the Metal Workers' Trade Union, Ivo Marjanovic, told the press in the
northern Adriatic port of Rijeka on Monday. Marjanovic said all
relevant state bodies had been notified, and that the shipyard, which is in
receivership, was doing good business.
He appealed to the creditors, notably the International Finance
Organisation and the German Development Bank, to accept the latest bankruptcy
plan, the payment of part of the claims, and nationalisation of the
shipyard.
Seizure of part of Lenac's assets initiated by the two institutions has
been postponed until tomorrow.
