SISAK, March 6 (Hina) - Ceska Beseda, the cultural organisation of
the Czech minority in Sisak, about 50 kilometres southeast of Zagreb, renewed
its activities on Saturday under the auspices of the Croatian Council for
National Minorities.The organisation was established on November 26, 1928 and its work was
suspended on the eve of the Second World War.
The reopening ceremony was attended by representatives of local
authorities, the Alliance of Czechs in Croatia, and the Czech Embassy in
Zagreb.
In his opening remarks, the head of Ceska Beseda, Stjepan Kaner, thanked
the town and county authorities and the town and county councils of the Czech
minority for support in reviving the organisation.
