Djakic said that in his opinion Gotovina should be enabled to be interviewed by ICTY investigators in Zagreb.
He told Jutarnji List daily that Gotovina should defend his honor before the Hague Tribunal.
"As a human, war veterans, Croatian Army officer and HVIDRA president, I have never disowned General Gotovina. It is our duty and obligation, as stated in the HVIDRA Statute and Code, to alway stay together," Djakic said.
He vowed for the discontinuation of the agony about the Gotovina case and that everybody be given an opportunity to give their truth and together with the government and its team for assisting ICTY indictees to dismiss the accusations.
"The entire homeland is accused through charges pressed against generals," the HVIDRA president said.
"Today I speak as president of the HVIDRA which demands that Gotovina be given a treatment previously given to all generals who first held talks with ICTY investigators. In my capacity as a representative of the ruling party, I will not comment on this," Djakic said.
