Apart from the Zagorac abduction, Ivan Matekovic, Marinko Gosuljevic, Sinisa Jezovita and Stevo Smrcek were also found guilty of planning the kidnapping of other children.
As the mastermind of the Zagorac kidnapping, Matekovic was sentenced to seven years in jail.
Hrvoje Petrac was given a six-year sentence, while his son Novica and Gosuljevic were sentenced to three and a half years. Hrvoje Petrac and Matekovic have been on the run since February 2004, alongside Matekovic's brothers Libero and Nikola.
Jezovita was given a three-year-three-month sentence, Ivan Bastalic three years and two months, Smrcek two years and nine months, Dario Jaic and Libero Matekovic one year each, and Nikola Matekovic 18 months in jail.
Six of the accused have been in detention since late February or early March 2004 and their time spent in jail will be included in the sentences. After the final verdict, Jaic will be released.
Tomislav Zagorac was kidnapped in front of the family house in Zagreb on 23 February 2004. He was released four days later after his father paid 750,000 euros, half the ransom demanded. The money has not yet been traced.
