Speaking in an interview for the Belgrade-based "Danas" daily of Thursday, Stanicic said the joint commission for borders would continue its work on the identification of the border. He added that efforts would be intensified to improve the border regime and adjust it to EU standards to benefit residents in border areas.
The ambassador stressed that the border between Serbia and Montenegro and Croatia was a technical and not a political or international issue which he said should be solved before admission to the EU.
Speaking about the decision of Television Novi Sad not to broadcast a Croatian-language programme for the Croat minority, Stanicic said that this was about the TV station's refusal to sign a broadcasting contract with the Croat publishing company "Hrvatska rijec" and added that the problem would be solved soon.
Private and collective property claims by citizens of Serbia and Montenegro in Croatia and the status of former Croatian representations in Serbia and Montenegro are covered by talks on succession between all former Yugoslav republics, the ambassador said, adding that it would be good to settle most such claims before the conclusion of an agreement on succession.
Commenting on Croatia's integration with the European Union, Stanicic said that Croatia hoped to start EU entry talks on March 17.
"Croatia fully cooperates with the Hague tribunal, which includes the Gotovina case. We believe that the cooperation will be verified with the start of the EU entry talks on March 17," Stanicic said.
