MPs said FINA had found its place and role in the market and finance environment, adapted to the new business conditions, and showed willingness with its products and services to be a significant factor of financial operations in the state.
Velimir Plesa of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union said the results of FINA's work indicated that the agency would grow into a "leader which will service the state treasury". He said the agency's operations might lead to the establishment of a strong state bank which would retain its profit in Croatia and sponsor projects of state importance.
The report was also endorsed by the strongest opposition party, the Social Democrats. Slavko Linic said important aspects of FINA's operations included systematic investment, technological innovations, continuous monitoring, adapting and constant education.
Linic added FINA also contributed to significant reforms, such as the tax reform.
Also today, the clubs of deputies endorsed an annual report on the operations of the Croatian Small Economy Agency.
They debated a report on the operations of the Council for the Regulation of Energy Activities. MPs said it was currently not possible to reduce the annual compensation which all energy sectors pay for the council's work.
Parliament resumed the session with a debate on the work od the National Higher Education Council in 2001-4.
