In the year when talks on membership in the European Union are about to start, there is no longer any doubt that only Croatian producers with high-quality original products will survive on the market, said Croatian Chamber of the Economy (HGK) president Nadan Vidosevic.
Croatia now has 160 products bearing the labels "Croatian Quality" and "Originally Croatian".
Compared to other transition countries, Croatia is not competitive in terms of costs of labour and products, and compared to developed countries, it is not competitive in terms of technology and production development, so the only niche for domestic producers is high product quality, Vidosevic said.
The labels of high quality and Croatian origin were awarded today to leading domestic brands, including Podravka's food additive Vegeta, Kras's Bajadera nougat cubes, and Pliva's Azytromycin.
