ZAGREB, Jan 17 (Hina) - According to the first preliminary andincomplete results which the State Election Commission (DIP) releasedimmediately after midnight Sunday, incumbent Croatian PresidentStjepan Mesic won the second round of
the presidential elections.
ZAGREB, Jan 17 (Hina) - According to the first preliminary and
incomplete results which the State Election Commission (DIP) released
immediately after midnight Sunday, incumbent Croatian President Stjepan Mesic
won the second round of the presidential elections.Mesic, supported by eight opposition parliamentary parties, won about 66
percent of votes, and his rival, Jadranka Kosor of the ruling Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ), about 34 percent.
Some 51 percent of a total of 4.4 million eligible voters went to the
polls to elect the Croatian president.
