The academy chairman, Milan Mogus, told a news conference in early December that the HAZU would also hold 50 symposiums and a dozen lectures.
The academy secretary-general, Slavko Cvetnic, recalled that the institution had launched the project called "Europe and Croatia" fifteen years ago with plans to publish five books on the history and culture of the Croatian nation. So far, three books from this edition have been published. The fourth volume covering the 19th century is near its completion, Cvetnic sad at that news conference.
The HAZU will soon launch the Blue Book ("Plava Knjiga") written by Croatian experts on the topic of the border demarcation with Slovenia, with an emphasis on the border in Savudrija Bay which the Slovenes call the Piran Bay.
In 2007, the Croatian academy is planning to cooperate with a score of similar institutions in the world.
