BERLIN, Dec 1 (Hina) - The German Bundestag approved with a
majority vote on Friday that German troops should stay in Bosnia and
Herzegovina for one more year as part of the European Union's peace
mission. The deputies also made the first step in the withdrawal of
German troops from Bosnia by reducing the highest number of troops which can
stay in Bosnia from 3,000 to 2,400.
Currently there are 850 Bundeswehr troops within the EU's Althea
mission in Bosnia. German Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung recently announced
a gradual withdrawal of German troops from Bosnia.
