The trial, which was discontinued for several months due to Margus's health problems, continued with the questioning of new witnesses, including Oto Lucinger, who spoke about the circumstances of the murder of civilian Savo Pavitovic.
Lucinger said that Pavitovic had been taken to a field outside Osijek where Margus gave him (Lucinger) a machine gun and told him to kill Pavitovic. Lucinger said that he could not do it, so Margus ordered the other accused, Dilber, to shoot Pavitovic, which Dilber did, but failed to kill him. Margus then took the gun and killed Pavitovic, the witness said.
Lucinger also testified about the abduction and execution of Stevan and Dragica Gvozdenovic and Ljubomir Grandic in Jasenik field in November 1991. He said that they had been taken to the nearby woods by Margus and that soon afterwards machine-gun shots could be heard. Lucinger said that witness Zlatko Frajtag too was present at the execution, but that they did not dare oppose Magas because they were afraid that he could kill them too.
Witness Darinka Bulat said that in late November 1991 she had personally seen Margus firing shots at her husband Svetozar and son Vukasin, who both succumbed to their wounds. Her grandson Slaven, aged nine at the time of the killing, sustained serious injuries in the shooting, the witness said.
The trial was set to continue on December 5 with new witness testimonies.
