Kandic had represented the families of victims of the Ovcara massacre in a war crimes trial before a Belgrade court.
"Over the past 15 years people in Serbia have been completely in the dark about what happened here, although they knew that stories about the JNA (Yugoslav People's Army) abiding by the law were a myth," Kandic told reporters.
"Everything that happened in Vukovar had been covered with lies and untruths in the Serbian public until the Ovcara trial took place," she added.
Kandic said she was surprised that Serbian President Boris Tadic "has not yet raised the Vukovar issue or spoken about it in public given the fact that he has been to Srebrenica."
"This cannot be expected from the government, because they still support the myths about the JNA and keep saying that everyone in Vukovar was responsible for the victims and the destruction," she said.
