BELGRADE, Nov 20 (Hina) - The Office of the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor issued a statement on Monday saying it had information that Damir Sireta, who is charged with war crimes committed against Croatian prisoners of war on a farm
outside the eastern Croatian town of Vukovar in 1991, was in custody in Norway.
BELGRADE, Nov 20 (Hina) - The Office of the Serbian War Crimes
Prosecutor issued a statement on Monday saying it had information that Damir
Sireta, who is charged with war crimes committed against Croatian prisoners of
war on a farm outside the eastern Croatian town of Vukovar in 1991, was in
custody in Norway. "Sireta, who has been beyond reach of law
enforcement authorities, has been located based on an international arrest
warrant and in cooperation with Norwegian state authorities," the statement
said.
Sireta, a former member of the Serb Territorial Defence in Vukovar, is
suspected of involvement in the execution of 200 POWs on the Ovcara farm in
November 1991.
Fifteen former members of the Vukovar Territorial Defence and the Serb
paramilitary unit "Leva Supoderica" have been sentenced to prison by the
Special War Crimes Court in Belgrade. They all have the right to appeal.
