The Italian government will donate 300,000 euros via the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) so that VIK could be ready to implement the ISPA water and waste water programme worth EUR36 million, for which the European Commission gave 22.5 million in non-repayable funds, while the rest was provided through an EBRD loan.
Franceca di Paola at the Italian Embassy in Croatia said Italy was not investing only in Croatia's banking sector, insurance and trade, but also in production. She called for stronger economic cooperation in production.
The director of the Italian Foreign Trade Institute in Zagreb, Alessandro Liberatori, said the institute's task was to facilitate Italian companies' entry on the Croatian market and vice versa, and that it wanted to help in developing cooperation among small and medium-sized enterprises.
