Speaking to reporters in Banja Luka, Dodik said that the proposal to call a referendum on this matter would soon be forwarded to the parliament which was expected to adopt a formal decision.
Police reform, which envisages the integration of the current numerous police agencies in the country into one police force, and the transfer of police powers from the entity level to the state level, is a basic political precondition for Bosnia-Herzegovina to sign a Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU.
The Serb authorities have been refusing for months any mention of stripping the entity interior ministry of its powers and establishing police districts that would cross the border between the country's two entities.
"I expect citizens to vote against the abolishment of the Republika Srpska police," Dodik said.
The Serb PM previously said that the EU was not worth joining if the price was the dissolution of the entity police.
