ST. PETERSBURG, Oct 8 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, was re-elected vice president of the Council of the European bishops' conferences (Consilium Conferetiarum Episcoporum Europae -
CCEE) at the CCEE session which is being held in St. Petersburg on 4-8 October, the Catholic news agency IKA reported on Sunday.
ST. PETERSBURG, Oct 8 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian
Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, was re-elected vice president of
the Council of the European bishops' conferences (Consilium Conferetiarum
Episcoporum Europae - CCEE) at the CCEE session which is being held in St.
Petersburg on 4-8 October, the Catholic news agency IKA reported on Sunday. The youngest CCEE member, Hungarian Archbishop Peter Ergo, was elected
CCEE president.
For the first time in history the presidents of the Catholic bishops'
Conferences of Europe met in St Petersburg, following an invitation by Mgr.
Joseph Werth, President of the episcopal Conference of the Catholic bishops of
the Russian federation.
The meeting represents a sign of esteem and communion for the country
and for all the Christians who live here.
The Council of European bishops' conferences gathers the presidents of
the 34 bishops' Conferences of Europe.
