The sculpture, Vjezbac (Athlete), by the late Croatian sculptor and painter Vasko Lipovac was unveiled by Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, CoE Parliamentary Assembly president Rene van der Linden, and Secretary-General Terry Davis.
Sanader said the gift was a contribution to the CoE's collection as well as a symbol of the contribution Croatia wanted to make to the CoE and the values it promoted.
Van der Linden said the unveiling coincided with the Parliamentary Assembly's intention to put sports issues more frequently on the agenda.
Davis said the gift enriched the CoE's diverse and valuable art collection.
