Sanader said he was not talking about a confrontation between the CoE and the European Union, but about the CoE achieving even better results in the implementation of its goals -- strengthening and development of democracy, strengthening of the rule of law, human and minority rights.
Sanader briefed the Parliamentary Assembly about Croatia's achievements in the past decade.
He outlined macroeconomic indicators and said Croatia's economy was getting ready for the European market, and that the judiciary and the education sector were being reformed in accordance with international documents.
Sanader also spoke of results in security and about regional and multilateral cooperation.
He said Croatia would wrap up entry negotiations with the EU in two and a half years. He also expects the EU to resolve by 2008 its internal issues regarding the European constitution and that there will be no problems or obstacles to Croatia's accession to the Union.
Sanader underlined that Croatia would share its experience with the countries in the region aspiring to join Euro-Atlantic structures, and said that not one country must be left out from the integration process because there was no alternative to united Europe.
Parliamentary Assembly President Rene van der Linden commended Croatia for its achievements in the past decade, while the Assembly's members gave a round of applause after Sanader's talk.
