SNSD party - winner of elections in Bosnian Serb entity

BANJA LUKA, Oct 2 (Hina) - The prime minister of the Bosnian Serb entity and the leader of the League of the Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, has said that his party is likely to win 60 percent of seats in the law-making body of the Republic of Srpska and that it will have eight seats out of 14 seats allocated for representatives from this entity, in the 42-seat House of Representatives of Bosnia-Herzegovina's state parliament.
BANJA LUKA, Oct 2 (Hina) - The prime minister of the Bosnian Serb entity and the leader of the League of the Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, has said that his party is likely to win 60 percent of seats in the law-making body of the Republic of Srpska and that it will have eight seats out of 14 seats allocated for representatives from this entity, in the 42-seat House of Representatives of Bosnia-Herzegovina's state parliament.

"We have planned to score such a victory at the elections and our forecasts have been realistic," Dodik told reporters in the northwestern city of Banja Luka on Monday, a day after Bosnians went to the polls to elect new leaders to guide the country in the coming period when the international community's administration of the country, established upon the end of the end of war in 1996, is expected to be over.

Dodik added that he was planning to remain in the office of the premier of the Republic of Srpska.

Nebojsa Radmanovic of the SNSD has won the election for the Serb representative in Bosnia's collective presidency.

The Serb entity's President, Dragan Cavic, who is the chief of the other major Serb party in Bosnia - the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) - on Monday congratulated the SNSD leadership on the elections' victory.

He also admitted that Milan Jelic of the SNSD won the election for the new president of the said entity.

"According to the (general) elections' returns, in the coming period the SNSD will take over the full responsibility for the future of the Republic of Srpska, just as the SDS did in 1996," Cavic said on Monday. He also cautioned that the the SNSD may gain a grip on the local media
