The event was organised by cultural institutes and departments for cultural and linguistic cooperation of the embassies of the EU countries accredited in Croatia.
The quiz held last Saturday checked students' knowledge of EU member-countries.
The European Day of Languages was held for the fifth consecutive year and Croatia is the only country where quizzes are held on that occasion.
Promotional stands in Zagreb's Ban Jelacic Square were put up by Austria, Finland, France, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Great Britain, and the European Commission Delegation to Croatia.
The purpose of the European Day of Languages, which was launched by the Council of Europe, is the promotion of Europe's linguistic and cultural diversity.
