The conference, entitled "Let's Bring Young People Back", stressed the need to create conditions for the return and stay of young people in areas of the country that were directly affected by the 1991-1995 war.
Kosor said that the process of return of displaced persons was nearing an end, and that over 140,000 housing units had been rebuilt to date, which cost more than 14 billion kuna (2 billion euros). She added that some 2,500 people were waiting to return to their prewar homes.
Kosor went on to say that Croatia was looking for more than 1,000 people listed as prisoners of war or missing, and that last year the government had passed a decree allocating about 7,000 houses in the war-affected areas to the families of missing persons and war veterans.
