Recalling its recent glorious past during the Homeland Defence War, the President said in the letter that currently the Navy carries out its everyday duties in the promotion and protection of Croatian interests at sea in accordance with its potential and plans for further development.
He added that Navy personnel have always been at the service of residents of Croatian islands.
"Security trends in the region and the world require new adjustments, flexibility and permanent training. In many bilateral and multilateral exercises, the Croatian Navy has demonstrated its openness to cooperation and exchange of experience," Mesic wrote, among other things, in the letter.
