Mesic says incidents on Croatian-Slovene border exaggerated

VARAZDIN, Sept 8 (Hina) - President Stjepan Mesic has said that he believes there are exaggerations in comments on what reporters label as the latest incidents at the Croatian-Slovene border.

Asked about the latest incidents by reporters who were covering his visit to the northern town of Varazdin on Friday, the Croatian head of state said that he believed that all of it was exaggerated.

"We are cooperating very well with Slovenia. The presence of Slovene companies in Croatia is more widespread than Croatian companies' in Slovenia and the Slovenes have no reason to blow scandals out of all proportion. Both we and the Slovenes should do all we can to solve all the outstanding issues," Mesic said.

"If we cannot sit at the table and agree, then it is logical for us to say that we are going before an international judicial institution. I do not know why it does not suit the Slovenes to ask the international court to decide on the matter," the Croatian president said.
