BELGRADE, Sept 3 (Hina) - Bosnia-Herzegovina is not sustainable in the long run and a referendum on the independence of Republika Srpska is inevitable, the prime minister of the Bosnian Serb entity, Milorad Dodik, said in an interview with the Serbian news agency FONET on Sunday.

In the interview, which was carried also by other Belgrade media, Dodik underlined that the main condition for the Serb entity to remain part of Bosnia-Herzegovina were guarantees that outvoting or radical Islam would not prevail.

Dodik went on to say that the Serb entity was currently willing to remain part of Bosnia-Herzegovina, but that the possible independence of Kosovo would reinforce the Serbs' belief that they have the same right. Ninety-nine percent of Bosnian Serbs would be in favour of Republika Srpska leaving Bosnia-Herzegovina in case of a referendum. "It is a reality," he added.

Dodik said that he personally did not see any need for the Serb entity to become independent, but he did believe that it should enjoy a higher degree of autonomy.

The project of Republika Srpska being joined with Serbia failed earlier, Dodik said, adding that it was now necessary to legally regulate cooperation between Belgrade and Banja Luka.
