ZAGREB, Aug 8 (Hina) - The Croatian Interior Ministry on Tuesday started, at the order of the State Prosecutor's Office, work to establish the circumstances of alleged war crimes committed in the area of Dvor na Uni, some 90 kilometres south of Zagreb, during the 1995 Croatian military-police operation Storm, shown on amateur video recordings broadcast recently by Belgrade's B92 TV station, ministry officials said.

"We have received the request and are acting accordingly," ministry spokesman Zlatko Mehun told Hina.

He added that the case was referred to the police department of Sisak-Moslavina County, where the alleged crimes were committed.

"All facts will be checked and investigations will be carried out in the field, and if necessary, we will cooperate with the police of Bosnia-Herzegovina," Mehun said.

After police finish their work they will send a report to the State Prosecutor's Office, officials at the Ministry said, but would not say how much time the investigation could take.

The Prosecutor's Office on Monday stated that it requested the Interior Ministry to establish all relevant circumstances after it had received a video recording showing the activities of the 55th Buzim Brigade of the Army of Bosnia-Herzegovina's Fifth Corps in the villages of Gornji Zirovac and Donji Zirovac near Dvor na Uni.

The Office said that the footage gave reason to believe that unidentified members of the Army of Bosnia-Herzegovina had committed war crimes against civilians and prisoners of war in those areas, and that it had therefore established contact with the State Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

After airing the controversial footage last Friday, TV B92 on Tuesday said that there was a third video recording showing members of the 505th Buzim Brigade and the Croatian Army's unit "Black Mambas".
