"We are interested in the return and survival of Bosniaks and Croats... in the respect for the Constitution and laws, notably those of vital interest, such as the Law on Local Self-Government and the Law on Administrative Service," read the statement.
Said laws envisage the obligation to employ Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims) and Croats in proportion to their share in the 1991 census, but Kadric and Krnjic said they were not being honoured.
They issued the statement in the wake of repeated claims by RS Parliament Speaker Igor Radojicic and some ministers that it was necessary to abolish the Council of Peoples due to "constant abuse of the issue of protection of vital national interests and thereby the endangerment of RS's survival".
Kadric and Krnjic maintain the Council of Peoples should be transformed into a House of Peoples which would have the same jurisdiction as the House of Peoples in Bosnia's other entity, the Croat-Muslim Federation.
Deputy Parliament Speaker Tomislav Tomljanovic told Hina the proportional representation of Croats was somewhat respected when it came to the most senior officials in the Bosnian Serb entity. He said, however, that laws calling for proportional representation of Croats and Muslims in local self-government units were not respected at all, notably in municipalities dominated by Serb political parties.
