The event, held by a monument to Second World War victims, was organised by Petrinja's Association of Antifascist Fighters and Antifascists. The Coordinating Body of Homeland War Associations from Sisak County was against the anniversary, saying it was a provocation because "the terrorist Serb Democratic Party was set up at the same place in Bosanski Grabovac on 23 July 1990".
The Coordinating Body also said that the 65th uprising anniversary was already marked on June 22, Croatia's Antifascist Struggle Day.
The event passed without incidents. Parliament Deputy Speaker Vesna Pusic said that in 1941 today, the locals stood up against the Ustasha terror, two months after the slaughter of Serbs from the nearby Glina.
