ZAGREB, July 12 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic has decided to reduce the five-year prison sentence for Serb Mirko Vuckovic, aged 42, convicted for war crimes against civilians, by one year.

decided to reduce the five-year prison sentence for Serb Mirko Vuckovic, aged
42, convicted for war crimes against civilians, by one year.
Vuckovic was sentenced by the Sisak County Court in March 2004 for burning down
several houses of Croatians from the village of Josevic, near Glina, in 1992.
The supreme court had already reduced his original six-year prison sentence to
five years.
Mesic also reduced the sentences to another two men, convicted of
murder.
The head of state rejected 48 clemency requests.
