The government endorsed a report on the implementation of the constitutional law on national minorities' rights in 2005. The report said that 50.4 million kuna was spent for that purpose, one-third more than the year before.
The report fairly states the problems which both the government and the minorities face, Minorities Council president Aleksandar Tolnauer said, adding he was pleased that over the past two years problems were being tackled.
The level of minority rights in Croatia is high, funds have been increased, and last year saw a further, significant progress in the implementation of the constitutional law, said the chief of the government's Office for Minorities, Milena Klajner.
Also today, the government suggested specifying the relationship between municipal heads, mayors and prefects and the representative body following their direct election in the future.
The government sent to parliament for adoption amendments to the Bankruptcy Law, which are expected to step up the control of the work of receivers, improve the position of workers in companies which are in receivership, and limit bankruptcy proceedings to a maximum 18 months.
The government appointed Finance Minister Ivan Suker national coordinator for the implementation of projects financed through loans, deeds of donations, and other foreign sources.
The government also appointed Davor Cilic its representative in the work of the Adriatic Euro-Region.
