ZADAR, June 17 (Hina) - Delegates attending the Croatian Social Liberal Party's (HSLS) 14th election assembly in Zadar on Saturday adopted president Djurdja Adlesic's report on the party's performance since the last assembly and a fundamental resolution with strategic guidelines on the party's activity in the building of Croatia.

Adlesic said the HSLS would run independently in the next parliamentary elections.

The HSLS will fight red tape, all forms of white-collar crime, the grey economy and for the privatisation of the remaining state portfolio via employee stock ownership plans, said Adlesic.

The party will also advocate the reorganisation of the Croatian Chamber of the Economy, encourage the development of the national economy, and oppose foreigners buying a company and conquering the market in Croatia and then relocating manufacturing abroad, Adlesic added.

With regard to the European Union, she said that prior to joining Croatia should reinforce its economic competitiveness in relation to other transition countries and EU members.

Adlesic went on to say that the HSLS wanted a modern, cheaper and more efficient state administration, the encouragement of science and education as well as education appropriate to local community requirements.

"There is a heavy workload ahead of us and the aim is to make the party one of the three strongest in Croatia. Strengthening the HSLS on the local level is a condition for strengthening on the national level," Adlesic said.

After adopting the report and the fundamental resolution, the delegates started electing the new party leadership.
