THESSALONIKI, May 4 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister said in Thessaloniki on Thursday he hoped that Serbia and Montenegro understood the warning from the European Union which suspended the country's stabilisation and association negotiations over its noncooperation with the UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague.

"I hope that Belgrade took the warning from Brussels seriously and that it will solve this problem," Sanader said at the margins of the summit of the Southeast European Cooperation Process.

EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn decided on Wednesday to suspend the Stabilisation and Association negotiations with Serbia and Montenegro because the country is not cooperating with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

Rehn said he received a detailed report this morning from ICTY Chief Prosecutor Carla del Ponte about Belgrade's cooperation with the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, saying that the assessment was negative.

The EU Enlargement Commissioner said negotiations could be resumed as soon as Belgrade established full cooperation with the Hague tribunal.
