"The existence of openness for dialogue and readiness to resolve outstanding issues is important. It is always possible to find solutions in such an environment, regardless of the difficulties," the cardinal said for the Easter issue of the Catholic weekly Glas Koncila.
Saying that the Catholic Church in Croatia regulated its relations with the state authorities through inter-governmental agreements between the Holy See the the Republic of Croatia in a way that had been done in many European states, Bozanic said that those agreement clearly regulated the relations.
"All existing issues, including those outstanding, are being solved within those frameworks," the dignitary he said.
Asked about the Church's position in Croatian society, Bozanic said the Church had lived in the people for centuries and that it could not be observed as something that had been added to a people.
Speaking about Croatia's path to the European Union, Cardinal Bozanic said it was unnecessary to rush on this important path, adding that the state authorities have a great responsibility and that they must clearly and bravely articulate Croatia's national interests and reach consensus of all relevant bodies when it came to that issue.
"One also needs to bear in mind our natural resources: the land, the sea, water springs," Bozanic said, adding that damage could have been avoided had some Croatian laws been better.
