All Croatian counties on the Adriatic as well as the Adriatic regions of Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania will attend a session of the Adriatic Council in Pula on June 30, said Jakovcic.
He added it remained unclear whether Slovenia would attend. Slovenia took part in the Euroregion's first meeting in Venice but did not sign the document adopted on that occasion. Bosnia and Herzegovina will be represented by Bosnia and Herzegovina Canton.
Jakovcic voiced confidence that the seat of the Adriatic Euroregion would be in Pula. He said its establishment was the result of attempts to make the Adriatic a sea of peace and prospects as well as a world brand.
Jakovcic also said he would likely be the Euroregion's first chairman and that Split-Dalmatia County prefect Ante Sanader would most likely be elected to the executive committee.
Jakovcic said the Adriatic Euroregion would have five commissions -- on the environment, tourism and culture, agriculture, fisheries, and infrastructure. He added they would be chaired by people from Croatia.
Assistant Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Davor Cilic said the ministry encouraged local communities to participate in such projects.
The state secretary at the Central State Administration, Antun Palaric, said this institution strongly supported every form of cooperation of regions on the Adriatic, notably with the European Union.
