SDP MPs Zvonimir Mrsic and Mirela Holy said at a news conference in the parliament that the possible privatisation of water resources was against national interests.
They warned that the government-sponsored amendments, sent to parliament to be discussed under fast-track procedure, envisaging the transformation of the no-profit-making Hrvatske Vode into a company, only substantiated their fear that there were plans to privatise national water resources.
"We don't see any reason for passing laws on transforming that state agency into a company, unless there are some private or partisan interests," Mrsic said.
