According to the budget draft, revenues are planned at HRK 107.4 billion and expenses at HRK 122.3 billion, with a deficit of HRK 14.9 billion next year.
Opposition members in the committee bore grudges against the government for having made available the draft yesterday although the document should be discussed today.
They described such attitude towards the parliament as humiliating and disparaging. Therefore Opposition MPs said they would not participate in the discussion on the draft budget.
Presenting the draft budget Finance Ministry State Secretary Zdravko Maric spoke about circumstances of the economic crisis under which the new budget was being adopted.
Zrdavko Maric said that in 2011 a mild economic upturn could be expected. He said that no new taxes would be levied nor would the existing ones rise which also limited the budget revenues.
He said that revenues from the income tax were projected at HRK 1.1 billion, or 12 percent less on the year. Also envisaged is a 10 per cent decline from profit tax to HRK 5.7 billion.
Revenues from Value Added Tax will grow 3.8 per cent to HRK 39.3 billion, and revenues from excise duties are to go up by 2.2 percent to HRK 11.5 billion. Revenues from customs duties are put at HRK 1.7 billion, a rise of 1.4 percent.
The Finance Committee chairman, Goran Maric, said the budget was designed to consolidate public finance.
