ZAGREB, Feb 16 (Hina) - The results of tests on dead swans found
in Croatia do not indicate at this stage that they are infected with avian
influenza, the spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water
Management, Mladen Pavic, told Hina on Thursday. He added that final results
would be available on Friday. The Ministry today banned imports of
live poultry and poultry meat, excluding thermally processed products, from
Germany, Austria and Hungary, bringing the number of countries from which such
imports are banned to 26, Pavic said.
Over the past six days the National Veterinary Institute has received
samples of 27 dead swans, four herons and a hawk found at about 20 locations in
Croatia.
