WASHINGTON, Feb 2 (Hina) - A deputy speaker of the Croatian
Parliament, Luka Bebic, who was at the helm of a three-member parliamentary
delegations, on Wednesday held talks with Congressman Joel Hefley and Senator
George Voinovich on Croatia's efforts to join NATO and the American support to
Croatia in this process. Bebic described the talks he had held in
Washington as friendly and open.
After last December's apprehension of the fugitive general Ante
Gotovina, who was wanted by the UN war crimes tribunal in the Hague, the U.S.
House of Representatives and Senate adopted two resolutions recommending
Croatia's integration with NATO at the earliest possible date.
On Thursday, the Croatian parliamentary delegation will attend the
traditional Breakfast Prayer in Washington, at the invitation of Congress.
Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic, who was also on a visit to the United
States, was received by Washington Mayor Anthony Williams on Wednesday.
