WASHINGTON, Feb 2 (Hina) - A deputy speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Luka Bebic, who was at the helm of a three-member parliamentary delegations, on Wednesday held talks with Congressman Joel Hefley and Senator George Voinovich on Croatia's efforts to join NATO and the American support to Croatia in this process.

Bebic described the talks he had held in Washington as friendly and open.

After last December's apprehension of the fugitive general Ante Gotovina, who was wanted by the UN war crimes tribunal in the Hague, the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate adopted two resolutions recommending Croatia's integration with NATO at the earliest possible date.

On Thursday, the Croatian parliamentary delegation will attend the traditional Breakfast Prayer in Washington, at the invitation of Congress.

Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic, who was also on a visit to the United States, was received by Washington Mayor Anthony Williams on Wednesday.
