SIBENIK, Jan 10 (Hina) - The county court in the central CroatianAdriatic city of Sibenik ordered the police on Tuesday to issue aninternational warrant for the arrest of Dragan Vasiljkovic, also knownas Captain Dragan, on suspicion
of committing war crimes in Croatia inthe early 1990s.
SIBENIK, Jan 10 (Hina) - The county court in the central Croatian
Adriatic city of Sibenik ordered the police on Tuesday to issue an
international warrant for the arrest of Dragan Vasiljkovic, also known as
Captain Dragan, on suspicion of committing war crimes in Croatia in the early
1990s. Vasiljkovic, who commanded a Serb paramilitary unit, is
suspected of committing war crimes against prisoners and civilians in Knin in
June and July 1991, in Glina in July 1991, and in Bruska near Benkovac in
February 1993, which qualify as violations of the Geneva conventions.
Vasiljkovic holds dual citizenship of Serbia and Montenegro and of
Australia. He lives in Australia and is beyond the reach of the Croatian
authorities.
