Sanader said that he would tomorrow send a letter to European Commission President Manuel Barroso proposing that the EC fund the construction of a regional fire-fighting centre for southeastern Europe with headquarters in Croatia.
"In this way we will be able to help other southeastern European countries if they are in a similar situation," Sanader said alluding to last night's critical situation near Dubrovnik after wild-fires spread from Bosnia-Herzegovina to southernmost Croatia.
"We will have to consider how to fight fires coming from other countries, in this case from Bosnia-Herzegovina and we will try, through bilateral talks, to agree on our concerted actions in the future," Sanader said.
He added that now Zagreb would request Bosnia a report and then assess what to do.
He reiterated that the Croatian government would buy two Canadair and three air tractor planes to strengthen the country's aerial fire-fighting capacity.
