The Croatian government on Thursday adopted a report on the situation on sites where wildfires had been put out.
The report was submitted by chief fire commander Mladen Jurin, who said that almost 2,000 people, supported by fire-fighting aircraft and 100 fire engines, were engaged in battles against blazes.
He said that no one had died as a result of recent wildfires.
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader thanked the fire crews for their efforts, and stressed that 90 percent of the blazes had been put out at their initial stages.
Sanader also thanked the Interior Ministry for having caught persons who set fires.
Interior Minister Ivica Kirin said that the ministry had so far submitted 11 cases with criminal charges for arson and that a significant number of ministry experts were engaged in preventing arson attempts.
