The Council examined the broadcasting of 20 local TV stations, establishing that nine had broken the law, the statement signed by Council chairman Denis Petricic said, adding that the public would be informed of the punishment to be imposed on those stations.
Last week, Croatian People's Party (HNS) MP Antun Kapraljevic requested that the parliamentary Media Committee discuss the fact that the Electronic Media Council had not reacted to "the unlawful live broadcast and airing of the 11th HDZ General Convention by a dozen local television stations".
Kapraljevic recalled that the Electronic Media Act prohibited the advertising of political parties unless during official election campaigns.
