Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader Zoran Milanovic was appointed chairman of the National Committee for the Supervision of EU Accession Talks, succeeding in this post the late SDP president Ivica Racan.
At the end of this week's sitting, the Sabor adopted amendments to the Trades and Crafts Act, which provide that people may engage in trades and crafts as a secondary occupation.
Also amended was the Tourist Tax Act, under which the level of local tourist tax charged by holiday resorts would depend on the zone in which they classified. The payment of this tax will also be mandatory for the owners of vessels that do not have a permanent mooring and for holiday makers camping outside camp sites.
Parliament adopted a new law on services in the tourist industry, under which this market would be liberalised with Croatia's accession to the European Union, when foreign nationals would be allowed to provide tourist services in Croatia under the same terms and conditions as Croatian nationals.
Deputies endorsed reports on commodity stockpiles and the implementation of the National Consumer Protection Programme and ratified several international agreements.
Parliament is due to reconvene on Tuesday.
