ZAGREB, June 4 (Hina) - Zagreb's classics-programme high school Collegium Zagrabiense on Sunday marked its 400th anniversary at a ceremony in the city's Vatroslav Lisinski concert hall that was attended by the school's former
students, teachers, representatives of Zagreb University, the Society of Jesus and the city and state authorities.
ZAGREB, June 4 (Hina) - Zagreb's classics-programme high school
Collegium Zagrabiense on Sunday marked its 400th anniversary at a ceremony in
the city's Vatroslav Lisinski concert hall that was attended by the school's
former students, teachers, representatives of Zagreb University, the Society of
Jesus and the city and state authorities. Established by the
Jesuits on June 3, 1607, the Collegium Zagrabiense is the country's oldest
secondary school and it has held classes regularly since its establishment.
Situated in Krizaniceva Street, it was attended by a number of
prominent scientists and intellectuals.
The curriculum includes 12 languages that are taught as optional
subjects, including Hebrew, Chinese and Japanese. The school's students
enrolling at the faculties of philosophy, political science and medicine, and
the Law School, have been known to have very good results.
